If you found me from the mind cards hello again!I really held off on reviewing this because when it comes to mental health practices I not only take it very seriously but I want to make sure Iâve taken the time to absorb any feelings.Letâs start with the quality of the binding – I really like the soothing light grey cover and gilded title. Itâs very quiet which is just what you need, you might want to get a cover for it if youâre concerned about marking it. The 100gsm paper is very nice and if youâre wondering what does that even mean itâs thicker than the standard which can be 80gsm. Pens can still come through to the other side but this is thicker. The layout inside is a quote page, Monday to Friday pages and a weekly review at the end, a notes page, a colour me page then the weekly starts again. Further into the book is a page on body scan a mindfulness exercise and more. I really like this and how it doesnât have every single day. Letâs be honest habits are hard to form so itâs important to go gently. The daily pages are for thoughts of the day, what you focused on your energy on that made you happy and didnât serve you plus what you can do to better focus your energy on tomorrow. You have a section to say what youâre grateful for and then mind card notes (see my part one review on those products).I think the layout and the daily questions are just enough to really help you hone in on where your energy is going and how to make things better. Itâs easy to find yourself thinking on energy more and really refocusing yourself each day. Clever how open the questions are and how theyâre not the âstandardâ where you feel boxed in and might not return if you have a terrible day. Itâs undated for a reason you will fall off your routine with this. The journal and everyone knows this thereâs no judgement. Prioritising energy is tiring so be patient with yourself.£23.99 is a good price considering everything about this journal. I do think seeing as the mind cards (which are £12.99) are mentioned that they should be included with this journal. Thereâs nothing worse than making the bold and scary choice to improve mental health only to realise youâre missing half the setup for this practice. Even with all this said I still recommend and if youâre here know the first step is the hardest. Be kind to yourself.

The concepts behind this book are perfectly sound and echoed in the UK by the NHS’s Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) programmes. The principle of recording thoughts and feelings with time for reflection and consequent behaviour modification is at the core of the book and worthwhile, but CBT on its own, unsupervised by external checks is not in many cases the best approach. The book is still useful as an aide, but ensure you have person-to-person consultations too.
