Blast from the past!
It’s the same as the one I played with 30 years ago! My kids love it, and the nostalgic sounds take me back!

Old School Toy that Still Provides Fun Learning for Young School-Age Kids
This is the same machine that was sold when ET first came out in the movies. My son had one when he was young — he is 40 now so I got a new one for his 6-year-old who is quite smart and loves figuring out how to spell words. He really enjoyed it, though he only knew a few words. After doing it over and over a few times he remembered some of the words that were new. It was battery-operated–no plug-in charger like most new things have. But the batteries came in the toy so I was pleasantly surprised at not having to put new ones in. It was also good for some grandma and grandson time together.

not EXACTLY the same
This is not EXACTLY the same as the original. The outside casing is different and it feels different. The voice is not the original electronic voice and it doesnât sound the same.If you are looking to have the exact experience from your childhood to share with your kids, please be aware of the changes/updates.

An old familiar friendâ¦
This was one of the best things I remember about a time in my childhood. I immediately smiled & jumped to order when I saw it. I think it sounds the same but even if slightly different, it doesnât matter. We donât reach to nostalgic toys because they were perfect . What I remember is that this was a comforting and familiar friend from long ago. Helped me escape my reality back then and now as a safe Autonomous adult, Iâm glad to have it around. Still fun when I need a little bit of a nostalgic good time. Oh yes, and itâs reminder that I made it out of that wretched childhood far better than I would have imagined. Heaven be praised!

The box says original voice synthesiser but it doesnât sound like the old one at all. The display is different to original too, worse even! Howâs that possible? Feel a bit deceived after spending good money. No really happy with the purchase. Itâs not like the original, if thatâs what youâre expecting. What do I do now?

I have fond memories of my Speak & Spell when I was a child.I bought a Speak & Spell for my little niece and she adores it, she takes it everywhere with her and her spelling and reading comprehension have improved. It’s a fun learning tool that I would definitely recommend.

After unpackaging and taking on the protective tab of the battery compartment, it refused to turn on. So I pressed the reset button, which caused the display to come on, but frozen, unresponsive. So I took the batteries out and changed a new set of batteries, but no matter what I did after that the display wonât come on at all. Thereâs a dull flash of the display when I press reset but thatâs it.

Took me back to my childhood. My son liked this and although he was a bit old for it at 8 he did play on it probably better for someone younger. It is good educationally if you are starting out in school. The screen is ok not as up to date as other screen. Voice isn’t that good. Works good and buttons work. Probably could have spent more on a something else and got better for value for money
